Coca-Cola’s Holiday Campaign Takes Over Yonge-Dundas Square Using Digital and Traditional Billboards
TORONTO, CANADA — Cieslok Media has added a digital billboard at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, one of Canada’s highest-traffic areas. The new digital billboard is 63-foot high by 35-foot wide is now the largest vertical full-motion screen in Canada. Yonge-Dundas Square attracts approximately 62,100 pedestrians and 55,500 vehicles daily, and is steps away from the Toronto Eaton Centre, which attracts up to 52 million visitors a year.
Coca-Cola is the first featured brand running a four-week holiday campaign with twelve 10-second spots. Coca-Cola’s #MakeSomeoneHappy campaign will take over all 62,000 daily impressions. In addition, Coca-Cola’s holiday message cannot be missed with a domination on other Cieslok Media large-format traditional static boards facing Yonge-Dundas Square.
“Coca-Cola has always been a part of the special moments when friends and family gather during the holidays,” says Diego Moratorio, Director of the Sparkling Business Unit at Coca-Cola Ltd. “Yonge-Dundas Square is both a landmark and a hub of activity for families and friends at this time of year; making it the ideal place to launch our biggest and best holiday campaign to-date. Cieslok’s newest digital billboard is a great asset to Yonge-Dundas Square and we are excited for Coca-Cola to be the first featured brand.”
“We are very excited to work with Coca-Cola, the world’s most iconic brand, to launch Canada’s largest vertical full motion digital billboard,” says Michelle Bertumen, Director of National Sales with Cieslok Media’s Outdoor Division. “There is no other outdoor location of this kind across the country, and it is a perfect complement to Coca-Cola’s domination facing the square.”
With over 25 years’ experience, Cieslok Media has acquired the best media assets in prime locations within Canada’s major markets and is the driving force in the OOH industry for data technology.
Free Trend Report: Why Location Is the New Currency of Marketing
Finding effective ways to deliver branded messages in today’s complex media environment is one of the biggest challenges facing advertisers. Traditional methods of advertising have become less effective as consumers spend less time in places where marketers have traditionally had an advantage in reaching them. In addition, consumer attention has fragmented across multiple channels as media options and device platforms increasingly diversify.
Active consumers spend money, and while they are going about their daily routine, they are also actively looking for information. According to Google, more than 50% of all mobile searches have local intent, and 17% of search happens while consumers are on the go.
Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising, also known as Digital Place-based (DPb) media, utilizes strategically placed, networked digital signage displays to reach on-the-go consumers while they are outside of their home with highly targeted messages. Location-based mobile and digital out-of-home media are part of a larger multiscreen ecosystem that effectively amplifies brand messages to create a deeper level of engagement with active consumers.
Why Location Is the New Currency of Marketing is aimed at CMOs, media buyers and strategists and provides insight into why marketers are increasingly shifting their advertising dollars to these rapidly emerging media platforms.
